Katrina Garven
Director and Principal Database Consultant

Katrina is a Geologist and database specialist with over 20 years’ of mining industry experience. Katrina holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Geology) from Curtin University of Technology. During her career Katrina has worked at numerous projects in Western Australia and Africa including Sons of Gwalia North Eastern Goldfields, Homestake Lawlers and Equinox Resources Lumwana Project in Zambia. Katrina has a wide variety of Geological experience and has held operational roles in exploration, underground and open pit mining/development and has worked extensively as a consultant.
Katrina’s interest and expertise in geological databases led her to working with acQuire Technology Solutions as a Principal Geological Data Analyst for four years. During this time Katrina was responsible for scoping, workflow analysis, onsite implementations, customisation, user training and support of acQuire GIMS at over 30 mining and exploration projects both within Australia and internationally. Katrina has developed an expert level of knowledge with acQuire through her use of the product in many different commodities and in complex operating environments. Katrina has also assisted many clients with optimising their data workflows and technology integration to ensure that end users are working efficiently and the data is maintained to the highest levels. Katrina is an accredited acQuire Database Manager, Microsoft Certified Professional (SQL Server Databases) and Prince Project Manager.
Previously Katrina has worked as a Principal Database Consultant for a Perth based consultancy for the last 8 years and has led large scale, multidisciplinary projects for numerous clients both within Australia and internationally. Notable achievements include:
Katrina started Alias Database Services in 2016 to service the resource industry in the provision of high level, advanced database expertise and her unique skills and experience contribute to innovative and effective database management outcomes for her clients.

Steven Warner
Senior Database Consultant

Steven is a Geologist with 20 years’ of mining industry experience. Steven holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from Macquarie University, plus postgraduate qualification in Geostatistics, Frontline Management and is a Member of the AusIMM. During his career Steven has worked at numerous projects in Western Australia including Sons of Gwalia North Eastern Goldfields, Straits Resources Nifty and Whim Creek Copper Projects, LionOre Thunderbox Gold Project, Rio Tinto Iron Ore and Atlas Iron. Steven has a wide variety of Geological experience and has held operational roles in exploration, mine geology, resource development, resource estimation, corporate management and has also worked as a consultant.
Steven has worked extensively as a Resource Estimation Geologist and has acted as Competent Person for Mineral Resources and Exploration Results. Steven has used acQuire GIMS extensively and has developed a thorough understanding of the importance of geological databases and the quality of the data it contains and how vital the information is to the end users. Steven has gained vast experience of acQuire through his involvement with numerous implementations and management of acQuire GIM Suite at many of the projects and businesses he has worked at. Most recently Steven worked on a large project to improve the database management of Atlas Irons Exploration and Resource Development areas through the implementation of acQuire GIMS. - Management of scoping, implementation, customisation, user acceptance testing, user documentation, roll out and group training, provision of ongoing support. Completion of acQuire Manager training for acQuire GIMS
- Compiling, validating, translating and merging legacy datasets into standard, central acQuire database.
- Streamlined and optimised workflows and developed new data entry objects to improve the efficiency and quality of data being collected in the field.
- Created importers for assays, downhole surveys and geophysics.
- Created QAQC objects for assay data provided from numerous laboratories.
- Supported Hydrogeology, Geotechnical, Geometallurgical groups with data management activities.
- Continuous enhancement of end-user functionality and integration of innovative new technology.
- Provision of day to day database management in support of over 200,000m of RC and 30,000m of diamond drilling annually.
- Provision and maintenance of import/export objects and data client views for Exploration, Resource Estimation, Tenements, GIS and Environmental groups.
- Linking acQuire to third party software such as ArcGis, Mapinfo, Vulcan and Surpac .
